#35.  162 Stirling Street  c. 1883

This prominent waterfront site was the location of the T. Hempstead pottery prior to the construction of the house by Mr. Beck, president of N.Y.C. Fire Insurance Co. The house, set on spacious grounds, has several unique features some of which were added in 1908: Palladian style window in the front gable; wood fanlight carving in gable tip; scalloped shingles with finial-like ornaments; double front doors with large beveled glass windows and a turret.
